All About It
- 2 Days 1 Nights
- Difficulty - Easy Moderate
Of course, you must be wondering how this name happened?! Well, it’s called the Top Station trek since it involves trekking up to the highest altitude station in this region. The hills of Kurangani, located at a distance from Munnar, welcome each trekker into their thick jungles, unexplored by the loops of the conventional travelling circuit. You’ll walk down the trail and cross tea estates and coffee plantations, apart from gusty waterfalls and picturesque valleys from Kurangani to the Top Station.
It’s an overnight journey from Bangalore, and you would be speechless to see that such a gorgeous abode exists, which you barely knew. The local tribes have made this place home, and you won’t see many people on this trail. That’s one of the best things for those who wish to ditch the crowd! You might be able to relate to this place as films like ‘Alagar Samiyin Kutharai’, ‘Kumki’ and the more recent ‘Myna’ have been shot around the region.
There are two different routes on this trail. One leads you to Top Station en route to Central Station, while the other takes you on an 8,000 feet ascent to Kolukumalai – the world’s tallest standing tea estate in this region. Starting at Kurangani Village is a 12-kilometre trek to Top Station (through Central Station). With this trail, you can also start from Munnar in Kerala. Walk through the densely wooded area toward the grassland expanse of Kurangani Hills until you finally reach the border of Theni. The trek down this trail would be an thrilling experience.

What’s life without adventure? Isn’t the real purpose of life to travel, to experience new places, and witness the sunrise from new mountaintops? This thought is what united Jatin and Tarun over a cup of chai, in spite of being from two unrelated backgrounds (CA and IT). They knew each other since the time Jatin was helping Tarun learn the ways of the wilderness through weekend treks and outings with another traveling group. Their love for traveling and trekking together motivated them to start something of their own. Thus was born “Plan The Unplanned”, where travel goals come true. Under the Companies Act, Plan The Unplanned is incorporated as Unplanned Journeys Private Limited They started their journey on unsteady ground, much like any other company, but they shared an infatuation for travel and adventure with their customers, which amplified their determination, and thus, Plan the Unplanned family keeps getting bigger every day! Just about any travel idea can come alive with Plan The Unplanned…treks, adventure activities like rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, backpacking trips across the country, cultural outings, photo walks; everything that fellow travelers need, to explore the great outdoors together.
