Given the proximity to Sun Temple, many call it as Konark Beach. According to legends lord Krishna's son Sambha had leprosy. He carried out penance here and ultimately got cured of his disease. Hence, locals believe that the water here has medicinal properties and can cure certain diseases.

During the yearly Chandrabhaga Fair it ia totally extraordinary shoreline. The yearly Chandrabhaga Fair, transforms the shoreline into a bouquet of activities.
