Rajmachi Fort

About This Place

Rajmachi Fort is a very popular trekking point in the Sahyadri mountains. Built in the 17th century by Shivaji, it has stood through time and seen many battles and rulers come and gone. After Shivaji it was passed on to Aurangzed, recaptured by Shahuji Maharaj and then finally in the hands of the British.
Rajmachi has two fortified peak points namely, Shrivardhan Balekilla and Manaranjan Balekilla. It also has a samll temple of Kalbhairav and Jogeshwari at the top. The trek is easy and takes at most 45 mins to 1 hour to reach the top from Udhewadi Village. Another route is from the Kondhane caves that would take 3-4 hrs and is a bit hard owing to its endurance.
