Highlights
Day 1 -
Reporting time: 10:30 AM
10:30 AM - Day 1 will start with a quick introduction session with the instructors and the students followed by the first theory session.
11:00 AM - Theory 1: INTRODUCTION TO EQUIPMENT
You will learn the following things in the session:
- Types of Gliders
- Parts of Gliders
- Make of the Glider
- Canopy care and maintainence
- Untangling lines
- Packing and unpacking
- How to wear a harness
- How to attach the harness to the Glider
- Pre-flight checks and Post-flight check
1:30 PM - After the Theory Session will take a lunch break to energise for the first ground training session.
3:00 PM - We begin our ground training session by revising our first theory session and then we learn the FORWARD Launch technique and do some trail runs to practise the Launch technique.
4:30 PM - Ground training ends before sunset so you can soak in the beautiful sunset from the Landing Site in Bir.
7:00 PM - Theory 2: BASIC FLIGHT PHYSICS
You will learn the following things in the session:
- Aerodynamics
- Basic Flight Physics
- Wind Theory
- Basic Site Assessment
- How does a Glider turn
We end the day by 9 PM and you can head back to your hotel for Dinner.
Day 2 -
Reporting time: 10:30 AM
Day 2: Starts with the Ground Training. We will be building Glider control and training our body to understand Glider movements. We will be doing multiple practice runs with the glider.
Day ends at 4:30 PM
Day 3 -
Reporting time: 10:30 AM
Day 3: We will continue with the Ground Training. You would have got a better understanding of the Glider Movements and you are building muscle memory to fly the Glider.
Day ends at 4:30 PM
Day 4 -
Reporting time: 10:30 AM
Day 4: We will continue with the Ground Training. You will go through an evaluation by the instructor to see your Glider Control. Based on your performance you will get clearance for flying!
Once you get clearance for flying you are sent into Simulation Session. In the simulation session you will learn the following things:
- Types of Turns
- Degrees of Turns
- Movements of the Glider
- How to react to the Movements of the Glider
Day ends at 4:30 PM with you ready to fly the next day!
Day 5 -
Reporting time: 5:00 AM
You will report to the training site at 5:00 AM. You will be provided transport from training site to Take-off point in Billing. We try to do 2 solo flights on each day subject to weather conditions.
Training ends at 10:00 AM
Day 6 -
Reporting time: 5:00 AM
You will report to the training site at 5:00 AM. You will be provided transport from training site to Take-off point in Billing. We try to do 2 solo flights on each day subject to weather conditions.
Training ends at 10:00 AM
Day 7 -
Reporting time: 5:00 AM
You will report to the training site at 5:00 AM. You will be provided transport from training site to Take-off point in Billing. We try to do 2 solo flights on each day subject to weather conditions.

HOW TO REACH
By Air: The nearest airport from Bir is in Dharamshala. It is 90 km away from Bir. (2 hours by road)
By Road: You can direct overnight buses from Delhi (11-12 hours) and Chandigarh (7-8 hours)
