With a history that dates back to the 3rd century BCE, Hampi will leave you in awe of its culture and beauty. Witness some spectacular sunsets that paint the sky in blazing shades of orange, magnificent piles of boulders stretching as far as the eyes can see and the history of one of India's glorious empires left behind in the form of ruins. If you're interested in cycling through ancient ruins, while also jumping in lakes and eating some great food, Hampi is the place to be!

Breakfast, Lunch

Day 1: Pack your bags cause we're heading to the city of ruins! We meet at the pickup point of your choice between 2-5 pm (Mumbai) and 7-9 pm (Pune). For those joining us at Hospet, contact us to coordinate the pickup point and time.

Day 2: We reach Hospet early in the morning and we make our way to Hampi. Keep a lookout for the ever-changing landscapes. They're gripping, to say the least. Check into our comfortable homestay rooms, and after breakfast, we’ll hop on to our bicycles and cycle around the magnificent ruins of Hampi. There's a fair bit of uphill cycling but don't worry, you can just get off and walk up the slope (we won't judge). The roads are wide with very little traffic, so make sure to take in the pleasant climate and beautiful views. You'll find 'nimbu-paani' and souvenir vendors along the way. Refresh yourselves and maybe even pick up some cool antiques to take home.

We’ll have a late lunch and take a little break. By around 4:00 pm, we make our way to Sanapur Lake for the unique coracle boat-ride experience where you can also take a dip/dive in the water (don't forget to carry a change of clothes). We make our way back to Hampi market for dinner.

Day 3: Rise and shine Vagabonds! After breakfast, we’re going to go for a walking tour of the Hampi ruins. We cross some gorgeous landscapes and the Tungabhadra river. We start with the iconic Virupaksha Temple and our last stop on the walking tour is the famous Vitthala temple (It's represented on the ₹50 note!). You have a few hours to explore these heritage sites. After exploring this beautiful monument, we make one final stop at the Hampi Archaeological Museum and then head to Kamalapura for a late lunch. We head back to Hospet to catch our bus. Take one last look at the ruins of Hampi whiz past you. Time to board our bus back to Bombay.

Day 4: We'll reach Bombay around 9:00 am latest. Say your final goodbyes. Back to the grind.

About Host

Vagabond started out as a project by four friends with a disdain for the ordinary. The idea was simple; take people out of their comfort zones. Not like Roadies, but just enough to bond them together through beautiful and authentic experiences. Happiness, as they say, is only real when shared. And share we did. The company was founded in 2014. As fresh Bachelor of Arts degree holders, companies were lining up to hire us fine gentlemen; we’re kidding. Fueled by entrepreneurial zeal, we started with small events in the city like heritage walks through Bombay’s old quarters. As musicians and travellers ourselves, we decided to marry these two loves of our lives. That is how the idea for the first Fields of Sound™ came about. Since then, it has only been onward and upwards for us. Since 2014, we’ve made friends like family through our journey. Our little ‘Vaga’-Fam. It’s safe to say, it’s been quite an adventure. One we would like you to join :)

Frequently Asked Questionss

Q: How long is this trip?
A: If you're joining us from Bombay/Pune, this trip starts on a Friday evening and ends on a Monday morning. This trip is designed for the working adult who can't afford to take too many leaves. It's curated so you can travel and explore this historic land over a short weekend.

Q: How comfortable is the bus journey?
A: Our bus journeys to Hampi and back are in AC sleeper Volvo buses. From firsthand experience, we can say that these buses are very comfortable. They make a dinner stop on the way and a few washroom breaks too.

Q: Can I join if I can't or don't want to cycle?
A: Yup, absolutely! Lots of travellers sometimes either don't know how to or just don't want to cycle, and that's completely fine. You can share a rickshaw with other non-cyclists and follow the group around. Although, let us know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Q: What is the rooming situation?
A: We're rooming y'all in twin-sharing homestay rooms with attached washrooms. If you're a solo traveller, you will be roomed with another solo traveller of your choice.

Q: Can I join solo?
A: ABSOLUTELY! Every Vagabond experience is blessed with a bunch of solo travellers who are hesitant at first, but end up returning home with a few new friends. These experiences of ours are conducive to meeting new like-minded individuals who you can gel with.

Q: What are the food arrangements like?
A: We will be providing you with breakfast on both days in Hospet, as well as a complimentary local Hampi-style lunch after our cycling tour. For the remaining meals, we will guide you toward the best spots in the hood so we can explore some new cuisines together.
