All About It

Harishchandragad trek in Maharashtra is a prime trek on the bucket list of all trekkers, hikers, and adventure enthusiasts. And why not? It is an excellent example of a combination of natural wonders, caves, temples, with the exotic sunrise and sunset points on the top. Harishchandragad Fort is a hill fort in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra and lies at around 140 km from Mumbai and 117 km from Pune. Beside, it is home to a famous fort that stands on top of the trek at about 4670 ft. In a word, the unique point is that it’s a night trek. Although there are many routes to reach the top—Pachnai is the easiest of all—we will trek via Khireshwar, which is moderate in difficulty. Interestingly, this trail snakes through forest sections, paddy fields, mighty mountains, small streams, big rock patches, and of course, nature in all its glory. At the top, you will scout Sapta Tirta Pushkarini Temple, Kedareshwar Cave, Konkan Kada(cliff), and Taramati Peak. Moreover, the natural wall is concave in shape; hence, if you are trekking at the right time, you will also experience some breathtaking secret phenomenon as vertical cloud bursts and circular rainbows/broken spectre. You can get this power-packed experience of incredible views, peacefulness and spiritual connectivity in just two days. So, here is a brief itinerary of the Harishchandragad trek with Plan the Unplanned.

Highlights

Trip Highlights Initially, meet fellow travellers and kick off your journey to Khireshwar. Secondly, cross mighty rock patches, walk beside the paddy fields and forest sections. Thirdly, explore the ancient fort; remnants of Microlithic man were discovered here. Key spots to visit – Harishchandrashwar Temple, Saptatirtha Pushkarni, Kashitirtha temple, Nageshwar temple, Kedareshwar cave, Taramati Peak and Konkan Kada. Finally, watch the giant Shiva linga surrounded by water and supported by one pillar (the other three have broken over time). If you get lucky, you will also witness natural phenomena like vertical cloud burst, circular rainbows.

Firstly, meeting at Railway Station and commencing the journey to Khireshwar

Next, trekking to Harishchandragad Fort and exploring Kedareshwar. Finally, retreating.

What’s life without adventure? Isn’t the real purpose of life to travel, to experience new places, and witness the sunrise from new mountaintops? This thought is what united Jatin and Tarun over a cup of chai, in spite of being from two unrelated backgrounds (CA and IT). They knew each other since the time Jatin was helping Tarun learn the ways of the wilderness through weekend treks and outings with another traveling group. Their love for traveling and trekking together motivated them to start something of their own. Thus was born “Plan The Unplanned”, where travel goals come true. Under the Companies Act, Plan The Unplanned is incorporated as Unplanned Journeys Private Limited They started their journey on unsteady ground, much like any other company, but they shared an infatuation for travel and adventure with their customers, which amplified their determination, and thus, Plan the Unplanned family keeps getting bigger every day! Just about any travel idea can come alive with Plan The Unplanned…treks, adventure activities like rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, backpacking trips across the country, cultural outings, photo walks; everything that fellow travelers need, to explore the great outdoors together.
