Mainstream is too overrated; try something offbeat.

This time, we are taking you on a well-guided combination tour to multiple hidden locations in the Western Ghats in Uttar Kannada district of Karnataka. Keep on reading, for you will not be able to resist booking this tour right away after this. Whether an adventure enthusiast, the one to whom history interests, or the one gripped by art and Architecture, this Jog falls and Keladi Package tour is one but suits all.

The first highlight on the list is the magnificent Jog Falls. It is the one on the Sharavathi River located in Sagar taluk in Uttar Kannada district of Karnataka. Being the third-highest waterfall (253 m) in India after Nohkalikai Falls (335 m) and Dudhsagar Falls (310 m), it has garnered the attention of tourists over the years. You can hike down 1400 steps and indulge in boating, kayaking, paddle boat, zip line, zorbing, and trampoline.

Secondly, Varadahalli is where Agastya Rishi and Ved Vyas went to meditate and perform their Sadhana. It is majestically covered in peacefulness and silence, and the forest is an evergreen one.

Just at some distance, Varadamoola is where the river Varadaa, a tributary of Tungabhadra, originates. The place is famous for the temple of Goddess Varadadevi and also few ancient shrines with rich history and traditions. We will also visit Ikkeri. It is a historical village in Karnataka. It was the erstwhile capital of the Keladi Nayakas.

The list is not over yet; Keladi is another town where we will go and see history and robust architecture by the Vijaynagara rulers. One such fantastic piece of art is the Keladi Rameshwara temple. The temple is an extraordinary example of the marvellous Dravidian style of architecture.

All this, your safety and travel are on us. We strongly believe that people who travel are the ones who conquer their dreams. And we profoundly wish to see you on our next journey!

At 7:00 am, we will start heading towards Varadahalli and will reach there by 7:30 am. It is at a distance of 6 km from Sagara. Amidst the Western Ghats, Varadahalli is where Agastya Rishi and Ved Vyas went to meditate and perform his Sadhana. Ved Vyas put the Durgambha idol near a cave where he meditated daily. Sridhar Swamiji attained Moksha at the very place, and in his memory, his disciples built a Samadhi there.

Then by 09:00 am, we will reach Varadamoola from where river Varadaa, a tributary of river Tungabhadra, originate. This place is famous for the temple of Goddess Varadadevi and also few ancient shrines with rich history and traditions. Pushkarini or small water bodies located within the temple premises reflect ancient culture purity, devotion and prayer.

Next on our cards is Ikkeri, a historical village. It is located at a distance of about 6 km to the south of Sagara town. It was the erstwhile capital of the Keladi Nayakas.

We will also visit Keladi, which was a part of the Vijayanagara empire. Vijayanagara Empire, as most of us know, was famous for its prominent art and architecture. One such amazing piece of art is the Keladi Rameshwara temple. The temple is an extraordinary example of the marvelous Dravidian style of architecture.

After sightseeing, we will return to Sagara and have lunch from 12:45 pm to 01:15 pm. Then, we will go to the magnificent Jog Falls and reach there by 02:15 pm.

Jog Falls is the last place to soak for this trip. Hence, spend your remaining time at leisure. As you transfer to the realm of natural beauty, you will witness the water of Sharavathi River spouts down the hills; four falls open up for the visitors – Raja, Roarer, Rocket and Rani:

The Raja is the one with magnificence.

Roarer lies right to Raja and is classified as such because it makes the most sound.

The Rocket shoots downwards. It looks like multiple streams of water are dancing and juggling on the rocks.

Finally, Rani, just as her nature, is the one that flows silently.

From a distance to a keen observer, the play comes alive at the moment. Jog in the local language means ‘falls’. It is also known as Gerusoppe Falls and Jogada Gundi. The 1400 steps lead you to the bottom of the waterfalls where you can view the falls from the opposite side.

By 5:00 pm, we will return to Sagar. There indulge in shopping, eat healthy dinner and depart for Bengaluru at 08:45 pm.

What’s life without adventure? Isn’t the real purpose of life to travel, to experience new places, and witness the sunrise from new mountaintops? This thought is what united Jatin and Tarun over a cup of chai, in spite of being from two unrelated backgrounds (CA and IT). They knew each other since the time Jatin was helping Tarun learn the ways of the wilderness through weekend treks and outings with another traveling group. Their love for traveling and trekking together motivated them to start something of their own. Thus was born “Plan The Unplanned”, where travel goals come true. Under the Companies Act, Plan The Unplanned is incorporated as Unplanned Journeys Private Limited They started their journey on unsteady ground, much like any other company, but they shared an infatuation for travel and adventure with their customers, which amplified their determination, and thus, Plan the Unplanned family keeps getting bigger every day! Just about any travel idea can come alive with Plan The Unplanned…treks, adventure activities like rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, backpacking trips across the country, cultural outings, photo walks; everything that fellow travelers need, to explore the great outdoors together.
