About Kataldhar Waterfall Trek

Kataldhar is located in Ulhas Valley near Lonavala on the route towards Udhewadi Village, the base village for Rajmachi Fort. The trek starts from Fanasrai Village, and there is only one route to reach Kataldhar Waterfall. Waterfalls are seasonal, available only during the monsoon season, and their level completely depends on the rain. It drains very quickly and can go dry if the rain stops for a few weeks. Kune Waterfall and Kataldhar Waterfall feed the Ulhas River, which flows to Thane and Vasai Creek.

The trek will lead us through dense forests and a slippery route. One has to be careful while descending and climbing from Kataldhar waterfall. Kataldhar can be seen from Shirvardhan Fort. Kataldhar Waterfall is an unknown hidden gem. A trek should not be attempted without a guide or experts, as the forest is dense and it is easy to lose your way. Caves have formed beneath the waterfall, which is only visible if the flow of the waterfall is moderate. Kataldhar Waterfall Rafting is conducted here when the flow of the waterfall is moderate. Kataldhar Waterfall is prone to flash floods; you have to be on high alert all the time and not venture too deep.

The trek leaders have good experience and are very helpful during trek with all the necessary details that one need to know.
I would suggest to carry minimum luggage as possible as the trek is demanding with high endurance so keeping the luggage at minimum only essentials like water, energy bars and drinks, will help you once the 75% bar of the trek is done😅....also would be nice if you practice cardio beforehand atleast 15-20 days if you don't go to gym, it will really aid you.
Overall a very good experience with treks and trails.
