Day 1:

We start our journey from Kochi city. After flying in, we’ll head to our rooms and get comfy before we step out into the warm Kochi markets. We head out to visit the Mattancherry Palace. Built close to 500 years ago, this beautiful structure is a very good marker of Kerala’s long history intertwined with the Portuguese, the Dutch, and the British. We’ll spend the evening strolling in Jew Town and Fort Kochi. This beautiful heritage district will take you back in time. Explore the antique markets and don’t miss the iconic Chinese fishing nets.

Stay: Kochi

Travel:  3-4 Hrs (Airport - Hotel - Fort Kochi - Hotel)

Meals: Dinner

Day 2:

After our coastal sojourn, we’re gonna head inland towards the mountains of Vagamon. This hill district is known for its gorgeous natural landscapes. Located at 1100 metres above sea level, this place is always cool. It’s going to be a long ride into the wilderness of these mountains, so brace yourself. Before you say it, we know it sounds like Vagabond, but it is pronounced as “waa-guh-mun”.

We check into our mountain rooms and get some well-earned rest.

Stay: Vagamon

Travel: 4-5 Hrs (Kochi - Vagamon)

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 3:

You wake up surrounded by the gorgeous hilltops on all sides in one of the jewels of the Western Ghats. Today we’ll explore the abundant natural beauty of the hills the best way we know how — on foot. Surrounding the Vagamon Lake, the pine forests of these wondrous hills are a sight to behold. We will also visit the lush green meadows, some waterfalls, and who knows, maybe even take a dip!

Stay: Vagamon

Travel: 2-3 Hrs (In and around Vagamon)

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 4:

From high in the hills, we go deep into the rivers! After our journey from Vagamon to Alleppey, we’ll board one of the famous Kerala houseboats. This part of our trip is all about experiencing the calmness and stillness of the simple beauty of the state. This is what we vacation for. This is what we live for.

We’ll spend the night floating on the legendary backwaters of god’s own country.

Stay: Alleppey (Houseboat)

Travel: 4-5 Hrs (Vagamon - Alleppey)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 5:

We’re going to say goodbye to the backwaters life and make our longest journey of this trip to the coastal town of Varkala. This is where we put the ‘Yay’ in Yaycation!

On our way, we’ll make a quick stop at the Jatayu Earth’s Center. This is one of the most fantastic marvels of modern-day stone-sculpting and architecture. Based on the Ramayana, this park is dedicated to the brave raptor who tries to save Sita from Raavan. The Earth’s Center also has a cable car ride and a host of other activities.

Stay: Varkala

Travel: 4-5 Hrs (Alleppey - Jatayu Earth’s Center - Varkala)

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 6:

This is our last night in Kerala. We won’t tell you what to do. You do you. Varkala is a great place to do a lot of things. You can start your day with a swim in the Arabian Sea. After washing off the sea salt, you can schedule a rejuvenating full-body massage to hit the ‘Reset’ button on your senses before you get back to normal life. This is also a great place to buy some curios, souvenirs and trinkets to take home. Shop your butt off!

If none of these interest you, Varkala has loads of restaurants with stunning views of the horizon. Sit back, relax, and sip on a beer while you reflect on the wonders of existence. This day is your day.

Stay: Varkala

Travel: 1-2 Hrs (Local travel)

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 7:

We’re at the end. Since this is our last day, we will make one final stop for any last-minute shopping and head straight to the airport. If time permits we will visit the beautiful Sri Chitra Art Gallery where you can see paintings by some of India’s finest artists such as Raja Ravi Varma.

Bid adieu to the beautiful coastal paradise and say goodbye to the new friends you made along the way. Until next time Vagabonds!

Vagabond started out as a project by four friends with a disdain for the ordinary. The idea was simple; take people out of their comfort zones. Not like Roadies, but just enough to bond them together through beautiful and authentic experiences. Happiness, as they say, is only real when shared. And share we did. The company was founded in 2014. As fresh Bachelor of Arts degree holders, companies were lining up to hire us fine gentlemen; we’re kidding. Fueled by entrepreneurial zeal, we started with small events in the city like heritage walks through Bombay’s old quarters. As musicians and travellers ourselves, we decided to marry these two loves of our lives. That is how the idea for the first Fields of Sound™ came about. Since then, it has only been onward and upwards for us. Since 2014, we’ve made friends like family through our journey. Our little ‘Vaga’-Fam. It’s safe to say, it’s been quite an adventure. One we would like you to join :)
