Kheerganga Trek (Khir Ganga),  is one of the most well-known trekking destinations in Himachal Pradesh. Located deep in the Parvati Valley, Kheerganga presents trekkers with a wealth of memorable experiences! 

A trekker can undertake the trek at any time of the year as per his or her weather preference. It is a short, easy trek, that even beginners can undertake. The trek starts from Barshaini, at the dam built on river Parvati, and goes to Kheerganga, where you will be camping overnight in tents.

  • 10:45 AM - Meet us at Barshaini. Before leaving Barshaini, take stock. This is where you can purchase additional supplies if need be.
  • From here you will start the 9 km long trek to Kheerganga. The estimated time to cover this trek is 5-6 hours. 
  • The beginning of the trek is a gentle incline, the path lined with beautiful apple orchards. As the trek progresses, massive Deodars and oaks also become a common sight. You can hear the constant roar of the river Parvati flowing nearby, easily visible from Barshaini.
  • Upon reaching, you can relax for a while at the camp set up at Kheerganga. 
  • Once you’ve unloaded, you can jump straight into the Parvati Kund, the hot water spring - a highlight of the trip. The sight of the snow-capped mountains, easily visible in the distance, are almost comical in their direct contrast to the warm water flowing around you.
  • After your tiredness from the trek has been washed away, you are welcome to enjoy the scrumptious meal prepared for you, before retiring to your tents for the night. Lights out!

Enroute Kheerganga Trek

  • 7:00 AM - Wake up to the serenity of the mountains and the slight chill in the air that always comes with altitude. 
  • After breakfast, you will start your trek back to Barshaini, in the Parvati Valley. This time, do make sure to explore this charming little town. 
  • On the way back from Kheerganga, you will come across the towns of Nakthan and Rudra Nag. These scenic villages are ideal for pit breaks along the way and grab additional supplies if you so need. 
  • This is the end of this journey. After this, you are free to explore nearby places like Tosh village and go sightseeing and shopping for souvenirs in the town. You can also start for Kasol immediately, or go explore the Tosh river!

HOW TO REACH

By Air:

➔ You can take a direct flight from Delhi to Kullu from the Bhuntar Airport, the nearest airport to Kasol. 

 

By Train:

➔ The nearest railway stations to Kasol are Pathankot and Joginder Nagar from Delhi. You can take the local transport after reaching Kasol. 

 

By Road:

➔ You can get a bus from many spots in Delhi from there you have to take a local bus to reach Kasol. Then travel to Barshaini from where you will reach Kheerganga by trekking.


  • Any cancellation made 30 days prior to the date of departure, would levy 20% of the total tour cost as cancellation charges.
  • Any cancellation made 15-30 days prior to the date of departure, would levy 30% of the total tour cost as cancellation charges.
  • Any cancellation made 7-15 days prior to the date of departure, would levy 50% of the total tour cost as cancellation charges.
  • Any cancellation made 0-7 days prior to the date of departure, would levy 100% of the total tour cost as cancellation charges.
  • Due to any restrictions such as sudden government policies or regulations, or unprecedented weather conditions, activities and tours may be nonoperational and be cancelled.
  • In cases such as these, operators will attempt to cater to the traveller an alternative that is feasible in nature. However, any refund would not be catered.
  • Upon booking, the traveller will receive a confirmation voucher via email, within 24 hours.
  • In the special cases of slots not being available, feasible alternatives will be provided to the customer, in regards to the customer’s preference. In such cases, a new voucher would be sent via email, consisting of the new travel details.
  • Delays may be caused due to weather conditions.
  • Do not litter anywhere during the trek!
  • We charge 30% for rescheduling the date of departure, in case of a customer's preference.
  •  The decisions of the trek leader are final.
  • Carry minimum weight and please take care of your own luggage.
  • Internet and network connectivity are pretty bad after a point of time, please inform anxious relatives beforehand.
  • The Wander Wave is only responsible for booking the buses under variant, "Delhi to Delhi". The Wander Wave is not responsible for the running, punctuality, etc of the bus.
  • If you are suffering from Asthma, etc. you are advised to not undertake this adventure, but if you so decide, it is at your own risk.
  • Pack light to enjoy to the fullest, only pack your necessities.
  • Enjoy the hot water bath in the hot spring and enjoy the view.
  • Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise and cover most of the trek in moderate climatic conditions.
  • Mobile connectivity is not that good in such regions so it would be better if you make all the important phone calls in Kasol.

What is the best time to undertake the Kheerganga Trek?

  • The best time for this trek in the Parvati Valley is during the months of summer, i.e., from March to June. The weather is quite pleasant this time around making it easier for travellers to experience its wilderness and revel in its beauty.
  • The Kheerganga trek has become especially famous amongst youngsters, for this time around.

Is the Kheerganga trek okay for beginners?

  • This is a relatively easy trek, okay for even first-timers! Even children can undertake the Kheerganga trek, provided that children below the age of 15 must be under adult supervision.

Do I need to exercise to be able to take this trek to Kheerganga?

  • While trekking is a physical activity, this one is a relatively short trek, with little incline. A person of average fitness can complete this successfully without much difficulty. However, it is advisable to follow a minimal fitness regime for a week beforehand for the best experience of the Kheerganga trek.
