Located in the Nanda Devi National Park in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, the Kuari Pass trek draws in thousands of explorers from all over the world every year.Kuari Pass trek is often also known as ‘Lord Curzon Trail’. Sited at an altitude of 12,516 ft, the trail gives an opportunity to a traveler to witness the breathtaking scenic views of India’s second-highest peak and the most celebrated - Nanda Devi (25,673 feet) and Mt. Dronagiri (23,182 feet) in any season. Kauri Pass is an easy-moderate trek, which makes it easy enough for someone starting out their tryst with the Mountains.
The trek passes through the thick alpine forests of oak and conifer, Rhododendron and birch, swarming with a variety of flora and fauna and if you are lucky you may even come across leopard pugmarks or a Himalayan black bear on this trail. The trek to Kauri Pass is intimately connected with each and every elements of both nature and a sense of adventure which tends to give an adrenaline rush. Each step embarks upon steep ascends and descends along with narrow and tricky paths and streams. Adding to the quest, one becomes a spectator to the spectacular views of the mighty Chitrakantha, Chaukhamba and Tali top. In winters there is an added appeal. The snow in its most magical form just seems to perfectly envelope the forests, making this trek an enthralling experience for both avid and novice trekkers alike.
