A road journey from Srinagar to Leh on NH-1D is one of the most breathtaking and thrilling experiences one can have in India. The highway passes through some of the most stunning natural landscapes in the world, providing breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, verdant valleys, crystal-clear rivers, and vibrant villages.

Geographically, Ladakh stretches between the Himalayan and Kunlun ranges and cradles the upper Indus River Valley. Ladakh is surrounded by Lahaul and Spiti to the south, Nubra Valley to the north, the entire upper Indus River Valley, and some parts of China and Pakistan across the mountain ranges. Since the Himalayas act as a blocker for monsoon clouds and winds, Ladakh remains a high-altitude cold desert in most parts, with the winter snowfall being the only source of water. Dras, Zanskar, Nubra, and Suru are fast growing to be important attractions in the Ladakh Region.

In conclusion, a road journey from Srinagar to Leh on NH-1D is an unforgettable experience. The natural beauty of the region is simply breathtaking, and the journey is a must-do for anyone who loves nature and adventure. From the stunning mountain passes to the remote villages of Ladakh, every moment of the journey is a feast for the senses.
