Nature lovers will be captivated by the crystal-clear waters of Dawki River, hidden waterfalls, and the fascinating caves like Mawsmai. Meghalaya’s indigenous communities, including the Khasi, Garo, and Jaintia tribes, maintain a rich cultural heritage, with festivals and a distinctive matrilineal society. Trekking, ecotourism, and exploring these natural wonders make Meghalaya a paradise for adventurers, offering an immersive experience of pristine beauty and sustainable tourism amidst the misty hills and rain-soaked forests.

  • These bridges, made from the roots of rubber trees, are a testament to the ingenuity of the Khasi and Jaintia people. The Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Nongriat is particularly famous and attracts many adventurers.
  • The capital city, Shillong, offers a colonial charm with pleasant weather, rolling hills, and vibrant local culture.
  • The crystal-clear Umngot River in Dawki is so transparent that the boats appear to float on air. Dawki is also a significant border town with beautiful river views and adventure opportunities like kayaking.
  • Umiam lake: A serene man-made reservoir located 15 kilometers from Shillong, it's ideal for boating, fishing, and picnics. The lake, surrounded by pine trees, offers a peaceful retreat from the city.
  • Nohkalikai Falls: One of India’s tallest waterfalls, plunging from a height of 1,115 feet.

 

  • Assemble at the pick-up point in Guwahati around 12:00 AM where a brief introduction by the trip captain will be provided.
  • Afterwards, we start our journey to Shillong which is a beautiful hill station nestled in the heart of Meghalaya. Popularly known as the “Scotland of the East” for its unmatched beauty.
  • Upon reaching Shillong, we'll check into our hotels and spend some leisure time.
  • In the evening, we'll go to Cafe Hopping and explore the Local market of Shillong as well.

Breakfast, Dinner

  • After early morning breakfast, we'll head towards Dawki River also known Umngot River which is famous for the fascinating turquoise water that resembles a glass surface.
  • En route, we'd visit the Phe Phe Waterfall, a two-tiered falls known locally as 'paradise.' It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Meghalaya, gracefully descending into a blue pool.
  • Upon arrival in Dawki, we'll check into our riverside camps in Shnongpdeng which is a small village tucked peacefully within the borders of the town.
  • In the evening, we'll host a bonfire. Dinner followed by an overnight stay in camps in

Shnongpdeng. Note: Bonfire is subject to weather condition.

Breakfast

  • Post breakfast, we'll indulge in adventure activities like Cliff Jumping, Boating, and Snorkeling, in the sparkling river.
  • Afterward, we'll head towards Cherrapunji which is popular for its living root bridges and the abundance of rainfall that this town witnesses every year.
  • En route, we’ll be traversing the Indo-Bangla Border as we visit Mawlynnong which holds the title of Asia's cleanest village and seems like a vast orchard of green canopies spreading across.
  • The village also offers breathtaking views of the neighboring Bangladesh plains.
  • Upon our arrival in Cherrapunji, we'll check into our hotel where we'll spend the night.

Breakfast

  • After early morning breakfast, We'll also visit the Seven Sister Falls which is a beautiful seven-segmented waterfall stretching along a rocky cliff.
  • Afterward, we'll be visiting one of the most notable landmarks in Cherrapunji which is the Mawsmai Caves.
  • The caves are made of limestone with stunning stalactites adorning the roofs giving them a mystical charm.
  • Then we'll head towards Nongriat village and start our trek to the iconic Double Decker Living Root Bridge.
  • The trail consists of the gushing sound of the river, a cluster of colorful butterflies, and enchanting forests making it extremely fulfilling.
  • Afterward, we'll head back to the hotel. Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.

Breakfast

  • After early morning breakfast, we'll check out of our hotel and head towards Shillong.
  • En route, We will visit the Nohkalikai waterfall which is the tallest plunge waterfall in Meghalaya with a staggering height of 1,115 ft.
  • We’ll also visit the Garden of Caves, near Cherrapunji, which is a naturally decorated wonderland with caves, rocky hills, waterfalls, streams, and lush greenery.
  • Afterwards, we'll also be visiting Laitlum Canyons which is a vantage point from where you get to see a panoramic view of the valleys of Meghalaya.
  • Upon arrival in Shillong, we'll check in to our hotel where we will spend the night.

Breakfast

  • After early morning breakfast, we'll check out of our hotel rooms and head back to Guwahati.
  • En route, we'd visit the popular Umiam Lake which is one of the biggest artificial lakes in Meghalaya.
  • Upon reaching Guwahati, the group will go their separate ways, to their respective cities according to their own scheduled departure.
  • End of Tour. Note: Please book your return flight on this day after consulting with your Trip Coordinator. Standard Check-out time is 11:00 AM.

Things to carry

  • Day backpack (20 – 30 Ltrs): When you are on a local sightseeing tour, you are required to carry only a few necessary items and for that, you need a day backpack as you will leave your bigger one at your designated stay.

  • Floaters or Sandals: When you are spending your day at leisure, a good pair of sandals and floaters will help you to move freely.

  • 1 Down Jacket / Main Jacket: It’s emphasized that you need to carry proper layers so you can avoid getting cold which is why you need to carry an insulated jacket that you can put on over your other clothes.

  • 1 Pair of Thermal: Thermal is a piece of garment that helps in keeping your body warm in cold temperatures. It is a necessary item that you need when traveling to cold regions.

  • Outdoor Shoes: A comfortable shoe is required when traveling outdoors, especially in the mountains. They shouldn’t be chunky, instead, they should be lightweight and sturdy.

  • 3 Quick Dry Tees: You must keep at least three pairs of quick dry tees so that you can wash them in between stops for proper hygiene.

  • 3 Pair of Cotton Socks: Cotton socks are extremely comfortable to move around in and are lightweight as well which is why you can always count on a good pair of cotton socks while traveling. However, keep in mind to change them and avoid wearing them if they are moist.

  • 1 Pair of Woolen Socks: A good pair of woolen socks, especially merino, are comfortable, limit odors and provide adequate insulation from the cold so you can wear them at night.

  • 1 Poncho: A poncho is an evolved form of a raincoat that provides coverage to your body as well as your bag and ensures total water protection from rain.

  • Quick-dry towel: A quick-dry towel will help in maintaining proper hygiene. It must dry quickly because the wet fabric will only increase the chance of bacterial growth.
