The name “Meghalaya” translates to “abode of the clouds.” It occupies a mountainous plateau with summits ranging from 4,000 to 6,000 feet. The Garo Hills, Khasi Hills, and Jaintia Hills form a single massif of tablelands separated by eastward-trending ridges. Deep valleys, narrow streams, and steep-sided valleys characterize the landscape. The Umiam-Barapani river is a major source of hydroelectric power for Assam and Meghalaya.

Meghalaya is known for its matrilineal society, where lineage and inheritance pass through the mother’s side. The Khasi and Garo tribes are prominent, and their languages are widely spoken. The state boasts crystal-clear rivers like the Dawki River. The famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge near Cherrapunji is a marvel made by training rubber tree roots to form a sturdy bridge. Numerous natural caves add to the enchantment of Meghalaya. The climate is generally mild, making it a pleasant destination for travelers.

Kaziranga, this mystical land, is where the majestic Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros roams freely, resembling a creature from ancient legends. Endowed with a single horn on their nose, these magnificent beings are often hailed as the unicorns of the real world, adding to the park's aura of enchantment.

    • During monsoons, road travel can be challenging due to slippery roads, but otherwise, it’s a good way to explore Meghalaya.

Who can join a TripNaari trip?

TripNaari trips are designed exclusively for women aged 18 and above. Whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or with family, you’re welcome. We create itineraries that are inclusive, comfortable, and suitable for women from all walks of life and levels of travel experience.

Do I need to be very fit to join?

Not at all. Most of our trips are planned for all fitness levels, and if there are activities like light hikes or long walking tours, we mention them clearly in the itinerary. We never push anyone beyond their comfort level and always make sure the pace is enjoyable for everyone.

Can I join solo?

Yes, in fact most of our travelers are solo women. We match room partners thoughtfully to ensure comfort and compatibility so you’ll never feel alone. Many of our guests end up making lifelong friends during the journey.

How do you ensure safety during the trip?

Safety is our highest priority. We work only with verified accommodations and transport providers. Every trip is led by an experienced female trip leader from start to finish, and emergency contacts are shared before departure. We also use vetted local guides where necessary, and we keep track of all group members throughout the trip so no one is left unattended.

What hygiene measures do you follow?

We personally inspect all accommodations for cleanliness before confirming them. Rooms and washrooms are sanitized before check-in, and we only choose restaurants and kitchens that maintain proper hygiene standards. Our trip leaders also carry sanitization kits so that we can maintain cleanliness even in remote locations.

What is included in the package?

Most packages include comfortable twin or triple sharing accommodation, transport as per the itinerary in clean, well-maintained vehicles, selected meals, guided activities, and entry fees where mentioned, along with 24/7 assistance from your trip leader. The specific inclusions for your trip will be clearly stated in the itinerary.

What is not included?

Personal expenses, meals or drinks not mentioned in the inclusions, optional activities outside the itinerary, travel insurance unless specified, and flight or train tickets unless stated are usually not included. The exclusions for your specific trip will be listed in your itinerary.

How do I book my spot?

Booking is simple. You just need to pay the advance amount mentioned in your itinerary to confirm your seat. Once your payment is received, we send you an official booking confirmation email with all the initial details and next steps.

Will I get a reminder for the remaining payment?

Yes. Before your balance payment due date, you will receive a heads-up email and WhatsApp reminder so you can complete the payment on time. Once the full payment is received, we officially add you to the trip’s dedicated WhatsApp group.

What happens after I am added to the WhatsApp group?

Once you’re in the group, we share all the final details — meeting points, transport timings, packing tips, emergency contacts, and trip leader information. The group is also where coordination happens before departure, so you can connect with fellow travelers in advance.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have a fair and transparent cancellation policy, with refunds depending on how early you cancel. Complete details are shared with you before booking so you can make your decision with clarity.

Will I be sharing my room?

Yes, unless you request and book a private room upgrade, which is subject to availability. We make sure to match room partners thoughtfully so that you are comfortable and feel at ease during your stay.

Can you arrange vegetarian, vegan, or special meals?

Yes, we do our best to accommodate dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, Jain, gluten-free, or other special requests. Please inform us before the trip so we can coordinate with our hotels and restaurants.

How do you handle medical emergencies?

Our trip leaders are trained in basic first aid and carry essential supplies. We maintain a list of nearby hospitals and clinics for every destination, and we assist you in getting medical attention promptly if required. We recommend carrying personal medicines and informing us about allergies or medical conditions before the trip.

Can I consume alcohol or smoke during the trip?

Alcohol consumption is allowed in moderation and only in designated safe spaces. Smoking is permitted only in outdoor areas where it does not disturb other travelers.

How much luggage should I carry?

We recommend traveling light. A medium-sized suitcase or rucksack along with a small day bag works best. This makes transfers easier and ensures you have more mobility during the trip.

Will I receive a packing list?

Yes, once your booking is confirmed and closer to the departure date, we send you a detailed “What to Carry” guide for your specific trip. This includes clothing suggestions based on the season, essentials for hygiene and safety, and tips for packing smart while being respectful to local cultures.
