Gokarna needs no introduction. Lying on the bank of the Arabian Sea, Honnavar town has attracted and absorbed the culture of different people from countries like Portugal, England and the Netherlands who came here for trade. Apart from the human impact, the natural setting of Mangrove Forest sets the town apart. You will also get to see the Konkan Railway line passing through it.
This is a calling for beach lovers. Activities like the Gokarna Beach trek (covering Paradise, Half Moon, Om, Kudle, Gokarna Beach and Dolphin's Point), Sunset by Kudle Beach, Honnavar Backwater Ride, Gokarna temple visit.
When the beginnings are right, all goes right. Set the hippie in you free as we spend a few nights under the open skies with the music of the waves and sand on your feet for company. Breakfast, Dinner
If you look outside your window, you will spot salt farms in the near distance. This means that we are now just minutes away from our destination. Carry your belongings into the cottage, freshen up, grab a bite, and get ready to start the trek to the base point.
Half Moon beach: This beach gains its name due to its resemblance to the shape of a half moon. Here’s when you get to relax and enjoy your peaceful surroundings. Ahead of Half Moon Beach, you will find an enormous rock called the Rock of Peace – it is the throne to witness one of the best sunsets; you will know why it’s named Rock of Peace only after you have experienced it. The whole world looks artistic from here; music starts playing on your mind, the colour of the sky changes every minute and if it’s your lucky day, you get to spot dolphins on the Arabian coastline!
Om Beach: We then trek ahead to a beach shaped in the form of the Hindu “Om symbol”; hence its name. It is around 2.5-3 km from Half Moon Beach, and the trail is moderate. Shop atrangi hippie accessories, buy souvenirs, ride a jet ski, pass around the frisbee or play beach volleyball on this beach which is undoubtedly a hub for hippies!
Kudle Beach: Our last (and best) beach destination is Kudle Beach, a popular tourist spot, well-known for authentic seafood, woodfired pizzas and good evening music. Every dish in every restaurant here is served with a view. The cool breeze, the slow sound of the waves and the growing tides are a perfect finish for the day. We now head back to Gokarna beach and later return to the campsite. It is now when the real fun begins.
Enjoy the sunset by Kudle Beach. Later, we will return to the campsite.
After this event, we will relax and retire.
🎉 If you’re all set for the New Year Party – ✨ Who knows, the best stories of the night might just happen there! 😉

Breakfast, Dinner
After an unforgettable New Year celebration on the night of December 31st, 2025, start the first day of 2026 with a refreshing and rejuvenating experience. The morning begins with time to freshen up, followed by a delicious breakfast to energize you for the exciting day ahead. At around 10:00 AM visit to the sacred Gokarna Mahabaleshwara Swamy Temple. Known for its rich history and spiritual significance, this ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is home to the revered Atmalinga
The Mahabaleshwar Temple in Gokarna, Karnataka, is a revered 4th-century Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Constructed in the classical Dravidian architectural style, it faces the Arabian Sea along Gokarna Beach. The temple enshrines the sacred Atmalinga, also known as the Pranalinga, which holds immense religious significance. According to legend, the Atmalinga was brought to Gokarna by the demon king Ravana from Mount Kailash. The temple is one of the seven sacred Muktikshetras in Karnataka, making it a prominent pilgrimage site for devotees seeking salvation.
As the day progresses, stop for a late lunch at a local eatery en route (self-sponsored) and savour the unique flavours of the region. Following this, head to the Sharvathi Kandla Boardwalk, where the lush mangroves and peaceful pathways offer a calming and picturesque experience. It is an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts and anyone seeking a moment of quiet reflection as the new year begins.
In the evening, embark on an enchanting sunset boat ride in Honnavar, where the golden hues of the setting sun blend seamlessly with the serene backwaters. This magical ride is one of the highlights of the day, providing breathtaking views and a perfect end to an adventurous start to 2025.
Dinner will be self-sponsored at a local spot along the return journey. Share stories of the day’s adventures and connect with fellow travellers as the group begins the journey back to Bangalore. You will arrive in the city by 6:00 AM on January 2nd, bringing this extraordinary New Year escapade to a close.
This is not just a trip; it is a celebration of fresh beginnings, stunning landscapes, and the warmth of shared moments. Start 2025 with cherished memories and a heart full of adventure! 🌟

What’s life without adventure? Isn’t the real purpose of life to travel, to experience new places, and witness the sunrise from new mountaintops? This thought is what united Jatin and Tarun over a cup of chai, in spite of being from two unrelated backgrounds (CA and IT). They knew each other since the time Jatin was helping Tarun learn the ways of the wilderness through weekend treks and outings with another traveling group. Their love for traveling and trekking together motivated them to start something of their own. Thus was born “Plan The Unplanned”, where travel goals come true. Under the Companies Act, Plan The Unplanned is incorporated as Unplanned Journeys Private Limited They started their journey on unsteady ground, much like any other company, but they shared an infatuation for travel and adventure with their customers, which amplified their determination, and thus, Plan the Unplanned family keeps getting bigger every day! Just about any travel idea can come alive with Plan The Unplanned…treks, adventure activities like rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, backpacking trips across the country, cultural outings, photo walks; everything that fellow travelers need, to explore the great outdoors together.
