Your journey begins at Bengaluru when you are lost in the star-studded sky, with the city lights fading in the background. With excitement in the air, we begin with a few ice-breaking sessions - the best way to get to know your fellow trekkers and unwind from the long weekday stress. As the night lingers on, it’s best to settle down and fall into a short slumber - allowing your bodies and minds to get that much needed rest. Enjoy the calm and relax as we arrive at our start point for an exhilarating adventure ahead.

We start a good breakfast; then we set off into the very thick of the woods. The initial stage is attaining trek permits and obtaining the authority of the local forest department. After doing this, a forest guide comes and we are all ready to get to our adventure!

The trailhead is a special place huddled behind the trees deep in the forest which we reach by driving. When the trek starts, you will really see how fast the scenery can change one minute it is foggy and cool and the other it is bright and sunny. You will wonder whether to continue wearing that raincoat or not!

The course is a magnificent blend of landscapes-rocky surfaces, wide grasslands, and dense vegetation. There are panoramic views that suddenly appear, and the view opens up a full palette of greens. You start to enjoy the view and a curtain of mist might descend, enveloping all in a soft white blanket. For a moment - then be blown away revealing a totally new outlook.

The area is near the Kerala border and at one point you are actually walking through Kerala, technically. And here you may get a glimpse of the mountain ranges which cross the state line. Somewhere along the line you will encounter the straying cows, inquisitive dogs and the elephant tracks although these gentle giants prefer to remain well back into the forest in the daytime.

We halt at the summit, rest and just enjoy the spectacular view of the Western Ghats. It is the scene of peace and admiration, standing under clouds, and silence of nature.

Our downhill route brings us to a forest checkpoint, a great place to have a packed-lunch after our hard work. Having a basic shelter and fresh water drinks is a good rest before the last part of the day.

Prior to the fall of dusk we will go to a scenic vantage point to capture the sunset drawing the heavens. Then we go back to the homestay- tired, happy and full of stories.

When you love the purity of the mountains, the fact that you cannot be certain of the weather conditions, the presence of the forest animals, and the silent excitement of the unknown, the day will be bound to be quite unforgettable.

Breakfast

The worst of Day 2? Certainly getting yourself out of bed following last night's bonfire, games, and laughter. We understand that it is not simple to leave the warm comfort of your blanket. But believe us, what is to happen is the very fitting conclusion to this memorable trip.

Once we had our breakfast we began the journey towards the beautiful Iruppu Falls passing through breathtakingly beautiful ghats wherein you can see sheer beauty sitting right before your window. A 10-minute walk gets you to the falls and once there, the falling water and the greenery sets your senses on a re-charge immediately.

Take a cool dip in the comfort of the cool waters of nature. There are also changing facilities in case you need to change clothes as you may feel comfortable freshening up before we embark on our journey back.

Fueled and satisfied with our souls we begin our journey back to Bengaluru. You will bring more than just photos, you will recall the stories, the memories and a bit of the soul of Coorg.

About Host

What’s life without adventure? Isn’t the real purpose of life to travel, to experience new places, and witness the sunrise from new mountaintops? This thought is what united Jatin and Tarun over a cup of chai, in spite of being from two unrelated backgrounds (CA and IT). They knew each other since the time Jatin was helping Tarun learn the ways of the wilderness through weekend treks and outings with another traveling group. Their love for traveling and trekking together motivated them to start something of their own. Thus was born “Plan The Unplanned”, where travel goals come true. Under the Companies Act, Plan The Unplanned is incorporated as Unplanned Journeys Private Limited They started their journey on unsteady ground, much like any other company, but they shared an infatuation for travel and adventure with their customers, which amplified their determination, and thus, Plan the Unplanned family keeps getting bigger every day! Just about any travel idea can come alive with Plan The Unplanned…treks, adventure activities like rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, backpacking trips across the country, cultural outings, photo walks; everything that fellow travelers need, to explore the great outdoors together. Well now that the wanderlust has kicked in and you can already see a vacation in your nearest future, here’s what we have to offer!
