Away in the chaos of the city, get ready to experience two calm days in the heart of Coorg. Early arrival at the campsite means you get to munch on a simply yet delicious breakfast. Just after we’re all done, we embark on the trail that begins at the historic Nalaknad Palace in Kakkabe.

The trail trudges through the wooded areas, calm flows and even a secret waterfall. There you will see butterflies, snails and greenery all around you. We halt at the scenic Big Rock to take in the incredible panoramic views and a few flawless photos.

Sooner it becomes steep outside False Point, nevertheless, it is worth the views. The twisty path to the top is on either side bordered with wildflowers. In the evening you will get back to the base camp, just in time to have a nice Coorgi dinner by the blazing bonfire - a perfect ending to an adventurous day.

At the height of 70 feet, Abbey Falls is one of the most beautiful cascades of South India set in a grove of coffee plantations and spice plantations. It is a result of a confluence of a number of mountain streams and then becomes a part of River Kaveri. Located in the scenic Western Ghats, it is a sanctuary to people who love nature, photography, and adventure.

Just across from the waterfalls is a hanging bridge with some great views of foaming white waters flowing down the rocks. The path to the falls can easily be described as a calming yet stimulating experience since it has a number of steps that have to be traversed alongside lush vegetation and scented gardens.

Historically called Jessy Falls (it was named after a British priest, by his daughter); it was later renewed by Neravanda B. Nanaiah. After clearing the forest and extending the surrounding plantations, putting the falls back into the news. Abbey falls is one of the highest attractions in Madikeri today.

The next destination will be the Namdroling Monastery in Kushalnagar which is a center of Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhism that houses more than 300 monks. A truly spiritual experience after your dose of nature and fresh air!

With this memorable journey ending, we are going to go back to Bangalore. The picture of the falling waters, fern green forests and serenity of Coorg will be etched in your memory even after you are back home or at least 5,735 feet above the daily grind!

About Host

What’s life without adventure? Isn’t the real purpose of life to travel, to experience new places, and witness the sunrise from new mountaintops? This thought is what united Jatin and Tarun over a cup of chai, in spite of being from two unrelated backgrounds (CA and IT). They knew each other since the time Jatin was helping Tarun learn the ways of the wilderness through weekend treks and outings with another traveling group. Their love for traveling and trekking together motivated them to start something of their own. Thus was born “Plan The Unplanned”, where travel goals come true. Under the Companies Act, Plan The Unplanned is incorporated as Unplanned Journeys Private Limited They started their journey on unsteady ground, much like any other company, but they shared an infatuation for travel and adventure with their customers, which amplified their determination, and thus, Plan the Unplanned family keeps getting bigger every day! Just about any travel idea can come alive with Plan The Unplanned…treks, adventure activities like rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, backpacking trips across the country, cultural outings, photo walks; everything that fellow travelers need, to explore the great outdoors together. Well now that the wanderlust has kicked in and you can already see a vacation in your nearest future, here’s what we have to offer!
