All About It
  • Best Season - Winter (Nov, Dec, Jan) Spring (Feb, March, April)

Often, we overlook Bombay's identity as a 'beach town,' oblivious to the fact that we have beaches nestled right in the heart of the city. And while you wouldn’t ever find someone sunbathing on the beaches of Bombay, what awaits you is a vibrant intertidal marine ecosystem. So pick up your fishing nets and put them down again (cause this isn’t that kind of adventure) and head out with us to explore the wonders of our coast that usually swim under the radar!

Let the tides reveal their treasures—watch here: https://tinyurl.com/tidal-treasures

About Host

Vagabond started out as a project by four friends with a disdain for the ordinary. The idea was simple; take people out of their comfort zones. Not like Roadies, but just enough to bond them together through beautiful and authentic experiences. Happiness, as they say, is only real when shared. And share we did. The company was founded in 2014. As fresh Bachelor of Arts degree holders, companies were lining up to hire us fine gentlemen; we’re kidding. Fueled by entrepreneurial zeal, we started with small events in the city like heritage walks through Bombay’s old quarters. As musicians and travellers ourselves, we decided to marry these two loves of our lives. That is how the idea for the first Fields of Sound™ came about. Since then, it has only been onward and upwards for us. Since 2014, we’ve made friends like family through our journey. Our little ‘Vaga’-Fam. It’s safe to say, it’s been quite an adventure. One we would like you to join :)

1. Where do we get more sightings?

There’s no definite answer to this, as marine life sightings depend largely on the tide pools and tidal conditions on that particular day. All the locations have shown similar diversity and frequency of marine creature sightings over time.

2. What’s the difference between the locations for the Marine Walk?

The main difference lies in the terrain. Haji Ali and PDP have a completely rocky surface, which can get a bit slippery in certain areas, while Juhu offers a walk along the sandy shore, making it comparatively easier to navigate. Children below the age of 7 yrs won't be allowed to join the walks at Haji Ali and PDP. Senior citizens and older folk are welcome to join; however, walking here could be challenging.

All locations offer a wonderful glimpse into Mumbai’s intertidal marine life, each with its own unique charm and experience.

3. Is there any age limit?

At Haji Ali and Malabar Hill, the minimum age is 7 years due to the rocky terrain, which can also be challenging for senior citizens.

For a more accessible experience, Juhu is preferable — it has no age limit, and tickets are applicable for children 3 years and above.

4. What kind of marine life will we get a chance to spot?

From sea sponges, jellyfish, barnacles, sea anemones, snails, and hermit crabs to the elusive starfish, moray eels and octopus, your naturalist will take you on a 2-hour walk and help you spot these magnificent creatures that thrive on our beaches.
