  1. What is the difficulty level of the Yulla Kanda trek?

The Yulla Kanda trek is considered moderate. While the total distance is manageable (12 km one way), it involves moderate ascents and traverses through some rough terrain.

  1. What is the best time to do the Yulla Kanda trek?

The ideal trekking season for Yulla Kanda is from mid-May to mid-October. This timeframe offers pleasant weather with clear skies and comfortable temperatures for trekking.

  1. What are the starting and ending points of the trek?

The trek typically starts from Yulla Khas village and concludes in Urni village, the nearest town to the Yulla Kanda base camp.

  1. What is included in the trek package?

Most trek packages typically cover meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), accommodation (homestay and campsite), camping equipment (shared tents and sleeping bags), guide services, first-aid kit, and transportation between Delhi and the trek location.

  1. What are some things excluded from the trek package?

Be prepared to cover additional costs for bottled water, bonfire charges (if not included as an extra), travel insurance, and personal expenses.

  1. Is it mandatory to have a guide for the Yulla Kanda trek?

While not strictly mandatory, having a certified guide is highly recommended, especially for first-time trekkers. They can navigate the trails, ensure safety, and share valuable insights about the region.

  1. What kind of physical fitness do I need for the trek?

A moderate level of fitness is recommended. Regular exercise and activities that build endurance will be helpful for tackling the climbs and descents.

  1. What kind of accommodation will be provided during the trek?

You can expect to stay in a comfortable homestay for two nights and one night at a campsite with shared tents during the trek.

  1. Do I need to bring my own food and water?

Meals are typically included in the trek package. However, bottled water is usually an additional expense, so factor that into your budget.

  1. What should I pack for the Yulla Kanda trek?

Pack comfortable hiking shoes, breathable clothing suitable for varying temperatures, a raincoat, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a backpack, a water bottle, toiletries, and any medications you require.

  1. Is there electricity and phone connectivity during the trek?

Electricity and phone connectivity might be limited, especially at the campsite near the lake. It's best to manage expectations and consider bringing a portable charger for essential devices.

  1. Are there toilet facilities available on the trek?

Most organized treks will provide access to basic toilet facilities at designated points along the trail and at the campsite. However, these might be basic and environmentally friendly options (e.g., digging toilets).

  1. Is it safe to swim in the Yulla Kanda Lake?

The lake's water temperature can be quite cold, and the water depth might vary significantly. It's advisable to avoid swimming in the lake unless under proper guidance and with safety precautions in place.

  1. What cultural sensitivities should I be aware of while visiting the Krishna temple?

Dress modestly when visiting the temple. It's customary to remove shoes before entering the temple complex. Following respectful behavior and maintaining silence within the temple is important.

  1. Can I solo trek Yulla Kanda, or is it a group-only activity?

While solo trekking isn't entirely impossible, it's strongly discouraged, especially for first-timers. The trek involves some remote sections, and having a guide or joining a group ensures safety and assistance in case of emergencies.
