All About It
- For 12+ years
Hampi in Karnataka is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 500 monuments in ruins that were once a part of the capital city of the glorious Vijayanagara Empire. Many regard Hampi has the second largest city of its time, after Beijing.
On the banks of the Tungabhadra, Hampi stands as a grandeur that was ancient India, with its intricate architecture all over the ruins, the sheer brilliant engineering, and a breath-taking escapade. The most important structure would probably be the Virupaksha Temple, dedicated to the patron deity of the empire.
But if you think, Hampi is all about history, you wouldn’t be more wrong. Hampi is the town where history and modernity creates a perfect blend. On the other side of the river, is the Hippie Town, where you can find aesthetic cafes, cultural performances, cuisines from all over the world, and people who would give you a different outlook to life.

Hampi Backpacking trip
Imagine stepping into a world that takes you back in time, where you can almost see a story of a kingdom unfolding.
This is Hampi, a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site in Karnataka, India. A Hampi trip isn’t just another regular getaway but a deep dive into history, culture, and nature, wrapped into an adventure you will never forget.
Hampi, once the capital of the mighty Vijayanagara Empire, was one of the richest and most powerful cities of medieval India. Whether you're a history buff, an adventure seeker, or a laid-back traveller, a Hampi trip has something for everyone.
Hampi can overwhelm you, right when you enter the town with its stunning sunrise on the backdrop of giant boulders. Climbing to the top of Matanga Hill or Anjaneya Hill offers breathtaking panoramic views that make the early morning trek totally worth it. The unique rock formations here attract rock climbers from all over the world, making Hampi one of the best places to try rock-climbing. This will lead to a Hampi trip which will not just be limited to learning about the history.
However, no Hampi trip is complete without exploring its awe-inspiring temples. The Virupaksha Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the oldest functioning temples in India, where you can witness traditional rituals that have been performed for centuries. The Vijaya Vittala Temple, on the other hand, is famous for its stone chariot as pictured on the ₹50 note of Indian currency and musical pillars. Yep, did you know that the pillars in this temple actually emit music? A stroll through these temples will make your Hampi trip feel like a journey through time.
On the other hand, across the Tungabhadra River, you’ll find the laid-back side of Hampi, commonly known as Hippie Island. Dive off a cliff or take a ride on the coracles, a Hampi trip with us allows you to explore all the shades of Hampi, from its bohemian paradise to its cultural richness.
But the best part about a Hampi trip is its affordability. You don’t need to break the bank to experience its charm. Moreover, you get to experience a richness of cuisines here, from a hearty Israeli breakfast to a traditional South Indian thali.
If you’re planning a Hampi trip, with us, the best time to visit is between October and March, when the weather is pleasant. Summers can be scorching, making it challenging to explore the open ruins.
So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and get ready to witness this town stuck in time with us and uncover its secrets.
