Bangalore is surrounded by many splendid hills and hillocks waiting to be explored. If you want to check them one by one, you must surely add this to your bucket list. Uttari Betta, the fortified hill known as Hutridurga in the south-east of Kunigal taluk, is the most popular trekking trail in Karnataka, and that is without reason because of the magnificent beauty it possesses Uttari Betta.
This popular trekking trail of Karnataka is a five-kilometre climb that treats adventurers with stunning views that imprints their minds for the rest of their lives.
This trek is a super master of scenic views and thrills you with the historic fort walls and intricate stone steps. An interesting fact is that this hill fort is said to have eight gateways from the foot to the summit in addition to the other several outer gates.
What waits on the top? The trek summit delivers the temple of Shankareswar, where one gets an extensive view of the landscape dotted by many hills.
This exclusive sunrise trek with Plan The Unplanned takes you right into the middle of nature with the help of caves, jungles, and huge boulders that will make you marvel at the immensity of life.
It ensures that the trekkers feel at one with the abundant wildlife and vegetation its path offers. So if you want to belong entirely to nature, come along on this trek and get to be a part of something bigger than all of us.

After walking for a reasonable amount of time in the dark through the village, you will come across a glorious fort that will immediately transport you to another world. Walk through the walls of this fort to come across the seven stone doors. The trail meanders through boulders and steps carved into huge rocks. But worry not; our trek leaders will always be there to motivate you, making sure no one is left behind.
The end of the climb is when you pass these doors, you will come to the temple of Shankareswar. This temple is right at the top and the middle point of the trek. Make sure to take in the beautiful view at the top as it is a view that is unlike any other you have seen.
On the Way to Shankareshwar TempleAfter absorbing the beauty at the top of the hill, make your way towards the jungle cave that will have you captivated by its entire beauty. Just for a moment, you will forget what it is like to be a part of civilization as you will become a part of another world altogether. The trail will end when you come across a huge grassland at the top of the hill, surrounded by huge boulders. We will observe the stunning sunrise at this location, with only green grass, clear blue skies, and dark grey boulders for our company. Remember this moment for as long as possible, as it will remind you of the absolute peace you felt at that moment
Following the gorgeous sunrise, with a magical mix of colours in the sky, we let ourselves drown in its beauty. We will quickly begin our descent back to the base camp. Make sure to tread carefully while being enchanted by the beauty of the hills. We shall pause on the way to have a quick breakfast and then set out for Bangalore.
What’s the wait? Pack your backpack for the following weekend and join us as we conquer this beauty. Intrigued by all these weekend adventures? Check out the other unique getaways you can explore from Bangalore, and let’s team up for the adventure.

What’s life without adventure? Isn’t the real purpose of life to travel, to experience new places, and witness the sunrise from new mountaintops? This thought is what united Jatin and Tarun over a cup of chai, in spite of being from two unrelated backgrounds (CA and IT). They knew each other since the time Jatin was helping Tarun learn the ways of the wilderness through weekend treks and outings with another traveling group. Their love for traveling and trekking together motivated them to start something of their own. Thus was born “Plan The Unplanned”, where travel goals come true. Under the Companies Act, Plan The Unplanned is incorporated as Unplanned Journeys Private Limited They started their journey on unsteady ground, much like any other company, but they shared an infatuation for travel and adventure with their customers, which amplified their determination, and thus, Plan the Unplanned family keeps getting bigger every day! Just about any travel idea can come alive with Plan The Unplanned…treks, adventure activities like rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, backpacking trips across the country, cultural outings, photo walks; everything that fellow travelers need, to explore the great outdoors together. Well now that the wanderlust has kicked in and you can already see a vacation in your nearest future, here’s what we have to offer!
