With excitement in the air, we begin with a few ice-breaking sessions - the best way to get to know your fellow trekkers and unwind from the long weekday stress. As the night lingers on, it’s best to settle down and fall into a short slumber - allowing your bodies and minds to get that much needed rest. Enjoy the calm and relax as we arrive at our start point for an exhilarating adventure ahead.
Day 1 - River Stream Trek

Trek (Jeep Ride)

All Meals
Just before dawn you roll into Meppadi in a muzzy state, which is also peppered with excitement. The air is fresher here and so is the rush. There is a jeep that helps you to get off the grid to the bumpy forest trails of Chooralmala and Aranamala. You are going 30 km in the wilderness, where people lose access to WiFi and nature becomes the premise.
The campsite is more like a secret that somebody is telling you about the forest, hidden in the green chrysalis. Your day begins with a refreshing shower after which you are greeted with a hot cup of black tea and a local breakfast which is simple, soulful and all you need to wake your senses.
Then comes your initial actual encounter of the wild side of Wayanad - the stream trek. Having buckled on your floats, with high spirits, you follow a barrier of a fallen tree, the work of nature herself, an arch-way. The trail runs through water, through rocks, through roots- you will re-cross the river a hundred times but safely under the guidance of your local guide. You can hear the forest talking all around you and every splash reminds you of nature.
First you hear a bit of road buzzing in the distance, civilisation telling you that it is there, only briefly. In a short time you are back in the trees, moping by the river, feet in cool water, drinking in the silence. The last stage travels through the Elephant Forest - a jungle path that tells you ancient jungle stories - until the campsite again welcomes you like a friend.
Hunger is calling by this time. The lunch is hot and fresh and you eat it up like a person who deserved these meals.
The day also sports a hidden waterfall, a mere 2 km hike away, in case you are lucky enough to be around in August-December. As you come very near it becomes louder and louder - and here it is, tumbling down to a natural pool, as clear as the sky. Swimmers jump off. Non swimmers walk along the borders. All feeling alive.
The bonfire sparks into flames as the dusk casts the trees in the golden color. Stories and laughter and the smell of a dinner camp cooker are in the air. Amidst the glittering of stars you have at last settled yourself at last, the forest breathing all about you, the city as far away as it bottom.
New paths are in tomorrow. But tonight you sleep in the midst of Wayanad - wild, full and free.

Day 2 - Sunrise hike & Try out Longest Zipline Adventure in Wayanad

Breakfast
The forest tenderly wakes you up - the soft beams pass through the trees, and the sky runs in pastels. You put on your hiking shoes at sunrise. There is no one on the trail, the air is clean. The world seems to come to a standstill and at that moment it is you talking to nature in silence.
On returning to the campsite there is a hot breakfast to welcome us. You wash up and pack your luggage, and you have to leave the forest but a new adventure awaits you.
Next station: Wayanad longest zipline with a spectacular scenic view of the tea estates. This is self-sponsored but the thrill of flying through the air? Totally priceless. Wind howls, your heart is pounding and the scenery underneath is postcard perfect.
Top up on small local snacks buttermilk, crunchy foods and fruits dipped into vinegar (you will thank us later). Then it is lunch (self-sponsored) and a last bite of Kerala before the road beckons.
We take a scenic farewell with the wild through Bandipur National Park on our route back. Keep your eye to the forest edge - there may be a deer, a tusker, perhaps a tiger - you don’t know who may come around.
When we arrive in Bengaluru at 10:30pm, the journey might be over but something remains there; the friendships you made, the jokes you shared, the fresh smell of the wet earth, the tales you will continue to share.

What’s life without adventure? Isn’t the real purpose of life to travel, to experience new places, and witness the sunrise from new mountaintops? This thought is what united Jatin and Tarun over a cup of chai, in spite of being from two unrelated backgrounds (CA and IT). They knew each other since the time Jatin was helping Tarun learn the ways of the wilderness through weekend treks and outings with another traveling group. Their love for traveling and trekking together motivated them to start something of their own. Thus was born “Plan The Unplanned”, where travel goals come true. Under the Companies Act, Plan The Unplanned is incorporated as Unplanned Journeys Private Limited They started their journey on unsteady ground, much like any other company, but they shared an infatuation for travel and adventure with their customers, which amplified their determination, and thus, Plan the Unplanned family keeps getting bigger every day! Just about any travel idea can come alive with Plan The Unplanned…treks, adventure activities like rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, backpacking trips across the country, cultural outings, photo walks; everything that fellow travelers need, to explore the great outdoors together.
