Q: Where are we staying?
A: We're living in tents by Lake Arthur at a private campsite. Camping will be on a double-sharing basis. A foam mat, pillow, and bedsheets will be provided.

Q: How are we travelling to this campsite?
A: Your pick-up points are 9:15 am at Craftbar 2.0 (Chakala Metro), 9:45 am at Hiranandani Bus Stop (Powai) and 10:15 am at  Cadbury Junction (Thane). We will be travelling from Bombay to Bhandardara and back in AC buses. During both journeys, the bus will make lunch stops en route.

Q: What will be the food provided at the campsite?
A: Evening high tea will include the likes of pakoda, tea, and coffee. Appetisers will have veg and non-veg starters. Dinner is usually rice, dal, bhaji, chicken gravy, chapati, papad, and pickle. Breakfast would have tea, coffee, and poha. Please note that, as this is a remote campsite with minimal facilities and staff, we will not be able to provide hot water on request or even access to heating or a fridge for personal needs.

Q: How likely are we to see fireflies?
A: Due to this being a natural phenomenon, we can't guarantee how good the sightings will be. However, this is the best time for fireflies sighting and this is one of the best areas to witness this phenomenon. To make this experience better, our campsite is cut off from the mainland crowd. This means less light pollution and less crowd/noise.

Q: How is this experience different from others?
A: Our lakeside venue is located on a private island that is accessible only by boat and is exclusively reserved for our campers. This ensures there is no cross-crowding with other groups. The property also has built-up washrooms and a separate dining area where home-cooked meals are prepared in our vendor’s kitchen. We also have an experienced naturalist who will give you an educational introduction to fireflies, their bioluminescence during this season, and the surrounding ecosystem of the region. We have backup accommodation options in case of unpredictable weather.

Q: Is there any age limit for this experience?
A: Not at all! People of all ages are welcome to join us for this magical fireflies experience. However: Children below 15 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants aged 15–17 years travelling without a guardian must carry a signed consent letter from their parent or guardian.

Q: Will kids or senior citizens face any difficulty during the event?
A: The campsite does involve a little bit of adventure and movement through nature. After getting off the bus, there is a 15–20 minute walk on an uneven, stony path to reach the boating point. Once you get off the boat, there’s again a 10-minute stony terrain walk to the campsite. Accommodation is in tents. If you’re comfortable with these basic outdoor elements, you’ll fit right in. We’ve had many families, kids, and senior citizens join us and enjoy the experience beautifully.

Q: Does the campsite have washrooms?
A: Yes! The campsite has 4 western-style built-up washrooms with basic amenities, and they are cleaned regularly to maintain hygiene and comfort. Please note: There are no separate ladies’ and gents’ washrooms Shower facilities are not available at the campsite

Q: Is the night forest walk to see the fireflies a trek?
A: Not really — it’s more of a relaxed night walk through the forest than a trek. The terrain is natural and may include muddy patches, stones, and a few gentle uphill sections here and there. We recommend wearing full sleeves, long pants, and good footwear so you can comfortably enjoy the magical firefly trails.

Q: Why are the Fireflies batches available only for these weekends?
A: Fireflies (also known as lightning bugs or glowworms) appear in large numbers at the end of summer and the beginning of the monsoon because this short pre-monsoon period provides the ideal environmental conditions for their mating season. These bioluminescent insects thrive in humid and damp weather conditions, which typically occur just before the monsoon arrives. This phenomenon is especially famous in the Western Ghats of India. As this natural event lasts only for a few weeks every year, our fireflies camping batches are scheduled specifically during this period.

Q: What happens if it rains heavily? Will it affect the experience?
A: Light showers actually enhance the fireflies sighting experience, as fireflies thrive in humid conditions. In case of heavy rainfall, there is no need to worry. We have a dormitory arrangement available, which participants may share with others. There is also a sheltered dining area for meals and relaxation. For safety reasons, if the rain becomes too heavy, we avoid using boats to cross the lake and instead use the forest and hillside route from the highway to reach the campsite.
