Aims and Objectives of AYM India The AYM yoga teacher training school aims to spread yoga by TTC education and specialized yoga classes in India. Our main objectives are: 1. Establishment of yoga study centers in India and abroad. 2. Developing standards for yoga teacher training programs and assisting other schools. 3. Leading and integrating spiritual communities and yoga schools in India. 4. Promotion of research in yoga and yoga institutes in India. History of AYM In September 2005, it became apparent that a standard for yoga teacher training at the national level (in India) was necessary. Yogi Chetan Mahesh and other well-known yoga experts and great yoga Gurus decided to make a foundation to solve the matter and registered an organization named 'Association for Yoga and Meditation' with the government of India. The AYM Yoga Studio in Rishikesh and other training institutes follow traditional and ancient yoga practices with a scientific approach. In 2005, AYM Yoga Academy of India also got the status as a National Organization of India and became a member of the (IYF) International Yoga Federation. AYM also sets standards for yoga study centers in India according to the guidelines of the IYF. Graduates from AYM can register at IYF and the Yoga Alliance USA. There are national yoga associations in most of the countries, which organize yoga activities and sports at the national level. The winners at National level Sports Activities in India can represent at international levels held by IYF. In 2006, AYM passed a resolution to make an administering body for keeping the international standards of yoga by the name of (IYA) Indian Yoga Alliance. Activities Association for Yoga and Meditation (AYM) is a National Educational organization of India engaged in the popularization and promotion of yoga education in its original and traditional form. To develop, promote and integrate yoga, Association for Yoga and Meditation set and follow the standard in teaching training and development of yoga.

Frequest Questions

Que 1: Do I need knowledge of yoga asanas to take this course? Are there any criteria for joining the beginner yoga course in Rishikesh?

Not. You are at a beginners’ course for yoga, and all you need to pursue this course is your physical fitness and an open mind to learn yoga. Your knowledge of asanas is not an entry criterion for the course. We do not recommend doing yoga if you are sick or have recently undergone surgeries. If you have any existing ailments, fractures, or body aches or are recovering from an illness, it is better to check with your doctors and get their advice before embarking on a yoga course.

Que 2: What if others in the session have already mastered the yoga asanas, and I am just a beginner?

Chill, this is not a competition. And we are not here to judge you for your level of physical flexibility. This journey towards yourself focuses only on yourself while practicing asanas. Keep that curiosity to learn, and we are here to guide you to take your yoga practice further. It is immaterial if your batch mates are doing it better than you or if you are doing it better than them. Remember, it is always a best practice to measure your progress each day by comparing it with yourself to check if you have done it better than the previous day rather than comparing yourself with others.

Que 1: What will be taught in the Beginners Yoga Course at AYM?

Good question. In this course you will be learning about yoga postures (aka asanas), various pranayamas (aka yogic breathing exercises), meditation (for a peaceful, and calm state of mind). There is also a yogic detox program included in the course (they are collectively known as shat kriyas), and also the study of Vedic Science. You will also be doing mantra chanting in the sessions.

For the asana practice, you will be introduced to Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, and Shivananda Yoga styles. We focus on alignment correction of our students using appropriate props (as per the Iyengar style of yoga).

We know that many of you who would like to start the yoga journey might be new to meditation as well. Here you will get the beautiful experience of meditation. Our teachers will be guiding you in the process. You will also be familiarized with the correct way of yogic breathing and you will be made to practice the same in the session. Here, you will also learn about beginner-level yoga asanas and their benefits.

Towards the end of the yoga practice session, we do deep relaxation through Yoga Nidra in the Shavasana pose (ie the corpse pose), and this has a deep calming effect on the body and the mind. This practice is well known for removing stress from the nervous system. Join our yoga course for beginners and experience the yogic effect in your mental, emotional and physical realms!

Our participants have stated that they feel more relaxed and peaceful after each of the yoga sessions.

Que 2: What should I do, if I would like to take my practice to the next level after I have completed the beginners yoga course in rishikesh?

For those beginners’ yoga course participants who would like to take their yogic knowledge to the next level, at AYM yoga school, we have our other courses such as 200 hours of yoga teachers’ training course, 300 hours of yoga TTC, 500 hours of yoga TTC, etc. which are quite intense. You may choose one of these courses which you feel is the most appropriate for you. These advanced-level courses are beneficial to start a career in yoga and deepen your yogic experience. These courses need commitment and dedication from the practitioners’ side. And it is worth all the effort. Thousands of our ex-students have testified the same. (Our yoga teachers’ training courses (Yoga TTC) are approved by the Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India, and The Yoga Alliance, United States.)
