Join The Western Routes for a forest trail to Ajivali Devrai, a mesmerizing 'sacred' forest just 40 km from Pune!
Sacred groves called ‘Devrai’ in Marathi are forest patches protected by villagers as they believe it belongs to a god/goddess. Ajivali Devrai is dedicated to Waghjai Devi, the guardian goddess of this particular forest. Boasting an astounding variety of flora and fauna, the climb is dotted with numerous waterfalls and stunning views of the Tung and Tikona Forts and the Pavana Lake. At the end of the hike, you enter the devrai or the sacred grove which is a thick, dense forest with trees as tall as 60-70 feet!
