This September, experience a unique apple harvesting trail in the upper Tons Valley of Uttarakhand! The months of August & September are peak apple harvest seasons in the mountains. The apple orchards are laden heavy with fruit. It is a magical time to experience this and definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience to pluck and eat apples straight from the tree! Our local partner for this experience is Tons Trails. On this trip, we will meet and interact with local farmers and learn the entire life cycle of an apple orchard. We will also visit the Tons Valley apple processing centre to see how apples are graded, sorted and packed for transport. Through the experience, all our meals will be home-cooked local food that features summer-special veggies and produce grown locally and organically in the upper Tons Valley. What's more? We will also experience a baking session with apples. On the first and the last day, we will explore the city of Dehradun and the hill station Mussoorie!

6:00 AM - We will start our journey towards Kotgaon. Breakfast en route. This is a long drive from Mussoorie to Kotgaon village (150 km, 6 hours) 1:00 PM - Arrive at our homestay in Kotgaon and indulge in a sumptuous traditional lunch. Afternoon for rest. 4:00 PM - Head out for a short walk through the beautiful apple orchards. 7:30 PM - Dinner. Overnight stay at Kotgaon Please Note - At village Kotgaon, we will be staying in shared accommodation in an apple orchard. (Dormitory style) - We will ensure that rooms & tents with proper mattresses and bedding are available. These will be on the floor. A few cots/beds will be available reserved for senior citizens only. - Shared western toilets and hot water showers will be available.

8:30 AM - Post breakfast, head out to meet apple farmers and learn about apple cultivation. This will be an immersive session led by the farmers. 11:00 AM - Proceed to the apple processing centre to learn about sorting, grading and packing apples. 2:00 PM - Return to the host orchard for a wholesome lunch. 4:30 PM - A fun and sweet baking session followed by dinner. Please Note - At village Kotgaon, we will be staying in shared accommodation in an apple orchard. 8:00 AM - After breakfast, drive to the heritage village Doni (30 km, 1.5 hrs) in Rupin Valley. 10:00 AM - Heritage walk followed by an authentic lunch in a traditional ‘Chaukhat home’. 2:00 PM - Short walk to see scenic apple orchards in village Satta. 4:00 PM - Return to host orchard in village Kotgaon. Evening free for leisure followed by dinner and overnight stay. Please Note - At village Kotgaon, we will be staying in shared accommodation in an apple orchard. (Dormitory style) - We will ensure that rooms & tents with proper mattresses and bedding are available. These will be on the floor.
