Join The Western Routes for our Ganesh Festival Walks during all days of Ganeshotsav in Pune.

In 1893, it was in Pune, that Lokmanya Tilak initiated the concept of the 'Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav' - the collective/public celebration of the Ganpati festival. While we have grown up with this story, there is an interesting twist to this! Get to know such interesting anecdotes about the history and culture of the Ganesh festival. We will set out on foot in the morning and walk the bylanes of the old city, visit the different pandals including the 'manache paach' (मानाचे पाच - Honoured/Respected Five) pandals and of course taste traditional snacks en-route.

Highlights

  • Learn the true history of 'Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav'
  • Walk the bylanes of Pune
  • Visit historical Ganesh pandals/mandals including the 'manache paach'
  • Traditional snacks

6:45 AM - Assemble at Shaniwar Wada
7:00 AM - We will begin our walk and visit the 'Manache Paach' (मानाचे पाच) Ganesh pandals and temples in the city along with a few historically and culturally important pandals. We will break for snacks at the famed Poona Guest House en-route
