Join The Western Routes for our Ganesh Festival Walk during the weekend of Ganeshotsav in Pune.

In 1893, it was in Pune, that Lokmanya Tilak initiated the concept of the 'Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav' - the collective/public celebration of the Ganpati festival. While we have grown up with this story, there is an interesting twist to this! Get to know such interesting anecdotes about the history and culture of the city. We will set out on foot and walk the bylanes of the old city, visit the 'Manache Paach' (मानाचे पाच - Honoured/Respected Five) pandals and of course taste traditional snacks including 'ukdiche modak'.

Schedule for Wednesday, 7 September

6:30 AM - Assemble at Shaniwar Wada
6:45 AM - We will begin our walk and visit the 'Manache Paach' (मानाचे पाच) Ganesh mandals/temples along with a few historically and culturally important pandals. Snacks at the famed Poona Guest House en-rout
9:30 AM - Walk ends at Kesari Wada
