Nestled at a height of 3810 meters which is about 12,500 feet this is an ideal trekking trail which covers a consolidated distance of 20 km. The distance is not much and the trekking trail is neither very difficult which enables even the first time trekkers to set on the adventure and enjoy the beauty of nature at its best. With charming and captivating sights of snow-capped Himalayas, the flourishing greenery, lush landscapes, diverse collection of flora, frozen ponds, to the sights of mesmerizing peaks, this trek have all the delightful marvels that a trekker wish to experience and view in his journey. • Depart from Mumbai at 4:35 pm from Bandra Station in Nzm Garib Rath Express(3AC).

• Reach Delhi by 9:40 a.m. and leave for Dehradun by Bus/Train. • Our train for Dehradun leaves at 11:00 pm in the night, so you are free to roam Delhi and assemble back at the station by 10:00 pm.

• Reach Dehradun by 6 am in the morning. • Leave immediately for Sankri, which is also our basecamp. • Tonight we will be spending in Sankri in a local homestay.

We will start our trek today. • Sankri (6,400 ft.) to Juda Ka Talab (9,100 ft.); 4 Km, 4-5 hours. • Initially, the trek from Sankri village to Juda Ka Talab will give you altitude rise of about 2700 ft., this is about 4-5 hours of the trek through the dense forest trees and the thick carpet of maple and pine leaves all brown in color and witness the captivating beauty of nature. • We will set up camp here for the night.

New year, new beginnings! • Juda Ka Talab (9,100 ft.) to Kedarkantha Base Camp (11,250 ft.); 3 Km, 2-3 hours • Today’s trail is short and again begins through dense forests of pine and oak trees only and through the steep ridge and much more dense areas, it takes 2-3 hours to reach the open highlands below the summit. • We set up camp here for the night.

• Kedarkantha Base Camp (11,250 ft.) to Kedarkantha Summit (12,500 ft.) and descend to Hargaon (8,450 ft.); 6 Km, 6-7 hours. • It is a long day today, but the excitement of the journey and conquering the peak would be far greater and much more worthy in compared to the challenges that lay ahead for the visitors. The climb is steep however absolutely worthwhile and one with rewarding views. • We will set up camp here for the night.

• Hargaon (8,450 ft.) to Sankri (6,400 ft.); 6 Km, 3-4 hours. • Today is the last day of the trek and you will be heading towards Sankri from where it all started approximately 6 km long trail counting for about 4 hours. • After reaching Sankri by noon, get settled in for an overnight stay in guest house/camp/homestay.

• Drive to Dehradun from Sankri in a shared cab/bus. • Sign off from Sankri early in the morning, preferably before 07:00 AM since the journey takes 8-9 hours. • We will take the night train to Delhi from Dehradun.

• Reach Delhi early in the morning. You are again left free for the rest of the day and need to assemble at the railway station by 2:30 pm on the same day. • We will start our return journey towards Mumbai by Garibrath(3AC).

Considering the heavy rush for New Years I understand a few things might go here and there but overall I just loved it. Camping at Kashid... Beachside Campfire...
