Details

On reaching Manmad, we board our private vehicle to Salherwadi which takes appx 2.5 hrs. We aim to ascend Salher via Salherwadi and decend from Waghambe.

The trek route starting from Salherwadi takes appx 3 hrs to reach top. This route is all filled up with historic remains of the fort. A Bulwark, adjacent to the third entrance (Maha Darwaza) signifies the pulchritude of the past. You will find many carvings, scripts engraved on the Fort walls. Fort remnants like small buildings, temple, sculpture, cisterns are all spread out here in quite a few numbers.

It is a fairly easy trek. On reaching Salher Fort, we will notice two caves, our shelter for the night. (Back to being cavemen!) After munching on our packed lunch, we will spend the day exploring the fort and it's ruins. The open temple of Renuka Devi, the Ganesha temple, the Gangasagar lake and the forts highest point.

In the evening, we settle back in the caves. Start preparing a fire and cook our dinner for the night. The rest of the evening can be spent spending time with each other, joking, relaxing and playing a lot of games

Salota stands adjacent to Salher and one has to descent from Salher towards the col between Salher and Salota and climb up to Salota on rock cut steps. We need to pass through 3 entrances to reach the top of Salota. The area on the top is small compared to Salher. Few water tanks, broken temple and amazing views ; that are the only things present on the fort. After exploring Salota we fort, we start descending to Waghambe via the col, On reaching Waghambem we hop on our private vehicle back to Manmad. Lunch shall be en route. W.e can spend sometime sightseeing around the area. We will board our return train to Secunderabad from Manmad station

"The Great Escape" upholds its name, literally! Among the couple of trekking organisations that I have hiked with in Himalayas, TGE is one of the best. They plan the trek very well, adapting the route and camping locations to factors like weather and the footfall. The support staff is experienced and deft, food great, and trekking practices "green". The organisers themselves are friendly and look after the group well. At the same time, they are firm, decisive, and in a mode of continuous improvement! It is a pleasure trekking with TGE, and I would highly recommend them! Good luck Reetu & Jamila...and keep rocking !

I have attended only one trip/event with TGE as of now and I loved it. It was well organized, the organizer was really cooperative and helped everyone in the team to make the trip a memorable one. I'd highly recommend this group to all friends and family and would love to attend their future events. Thank you.
