Chopta is popularly visited as a 'Weekend destination' and is located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. This place is also a prominent part of the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. It is frequented by trekkers as it is the base for the Tungnath temple. Many Shiva devotees visit Tungnath as this is the highest Shiva temple in the world. Chandrashila is at an altitude of 3,690 meters and is the summit point of the Tungnath trek. The trek route is rich with alpine meadows and forests; however,

it gets covered with snow during the winter months.

Deoriatal is a pristine lake with a mythological significance dating back to the Pandavas. The dreamlike lake is surrounded by a lush green meadow and the Himalayas in the backdrop. The reflection of Mount Chaukhamba in the emerald-colored lake makes it a treat for trekkers at an elevation of 2,438 meters. The summit point of this trek offers an astonishing view of prominent Himalayan peaks including Chaukhamba, Bandarpunch, Nilkantha, Tirsuli, Nanda Devi, Kedar Dome, and many more.
