Join The Western Routes as we head to Velas for a chance to see the Olive Ridley Turtles nests and hatchlings. This year, the Turtle Festival has not been planned, but the local community has invited us to witness the release of turtles in the sea at Velas.

Saturday, 3 April 6:00 am - Assemble at Fergusson College Main Gate 6:15 am - Depart for Velas. Breakfast en-route 1:00 pm - Arrive at Velas, followed by lunch and time for leisure. 4:00 pm - Explore the village on foot and proceed to the Bankot fort. Sunset on the beach. 7:00 pm - Back to homestay and dinner. Overnight stay in Velas

The Western Routes was founded in 2011. It started as a concept that found its roots in the love for the state of Maharashtra and its native culture. Since 2015, we have ventured into curating itineraries pan-India which are themed around history, culture, wildlife, people & food.
Inclusions
- Pune-Velas-Pune Travel and all internal travel in an AC Mini Bus - Accommodation on multiple sharing. We will be living in one of the houses. We will make sure that everyone gets a mattress to sleep on. Please note that separate bedrooms for each individual/family are not available. - Meals (Veg & Non Veg) - Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Tea & Dinner on Day 1 & Breakfast & Lunch, Evening tea & Snacks on Day 2. - All taxes
Exclusions
- Any additional items not mentioned in the 'includes' list - Fried fish portions at restaurants as they are priced as per size - Any tips and personal expenses (mineral water, cold drinks etc.) - Travel insurance
THINGS TO CARRY
- Water - 1 litre per person (We provide water, but it is advisable to carry your own water bottles to reduce waste)
- Masks are mandatory in the village, the beach and other public places. Please carry your personal sanitizers too.
- Please travel light. (Carry backpacks or duffel bags & avoid suitcases)
- Please carry comfortable clothing suitable for the coastal weather.
- Carry Sun gear - Sunglasses, caps, sunscreen as the afternoon/evening might get warm and sunny.
- Personal toiletries and your own towel
- Wear comfortable walking gear preferably floaters or shoes. Avoid sandals and high-heeled shoes. There some amount of walking involved.
- Carry a mosquito-repelling ointment or gel if you are prone to insect bites
- The host family will be providing a mattress, bedspread, pillows, and a blanket. But if you are comfortable with your own blanket/rug carry that.
- We will have a basic medical kit, but if you require a particular type of medicine that suits your body then we suggest that.
- Do not forget to carry a camera. Additionally, carry binoculars if you own a pair.
- A good torch
- Some snacks for everyone to share!
